Sadly, I think she was broken up. I joined MNC for my Pre Sea Induction Course in September 1977 and she was still afloat moored where she had been for a few decades. I believe the MNC College was built by the ILEA and completed in 1976, when Worcester cadets transferred to the new building. I recall a quick visit to the Worcester given by Tony Vaughen to us newbies, but by the time we came back for phase 1 of our training 12 months later, she was gone. Not sure which scrapyard she went to, but it was probably in the UK - I don't believe she would have survived a long tow, frankly! I wonder if she is still a rotting hulk somewhere? |
