I live near Basingstoke and work as a Civil Servant in Southampton.

After 15 years in the Merchant Navy, I came ashore to work, initially in the New York and then London offices of P&O Bulk Shipping. In 1994 I was appointed a Director of that company.
P&O Bulk was sold on to a competitor in 2001 so I decided to take 11 months "gardening leave" and spent some time with my kids, which was nice! I then spent a couple of years working for the Bahamas government (unfortunately based in London!) before joining the Marine Accident Investigation Branch as its Deputy Chief Inspector at the beginning of 2004
