Member notes for Darryn Bird

I joined Cunard as Deck boy after leaving Leasowes and spent 9 great years travelling during which time I was exceptionally lucky to visit many wonderful places all over the world (Falklands excepted). I was promoted to Third Officer and I served on a wide range of their vessels, my last appointment being the M.V.Atlantic Conveyor.
On leaving Cunard I then moved into the North Sea working for Gulf Offshore & Barra Shipping in the oil industry. I served on Anchor Handlers as Second and finally Chief Officer for a further 6 years.

After swallowing the 'anchor' I went into Management Consultancy. I have worked for two International Consultancies again all around the world,specialising in behavioural change and systems, process and maintenance improvement.

I have recently opened my own software company and am currently living in Manchester
