Member notes for Kev Gregory
Spent my last two school years at Manshead, after more school moves than I can or care to remember. Joined
Shell Tankers in '75 as a Nav Cadet, being as I remember one of the
first 'batch' in the new on shore accomodation. Spent many a happy time
at Greenhithe College over the next 4 years, most memorably at Dartford
PE College most Friday and Saturday nights! These were followed by
spells at sea getting away from my irate bank manager, ah, those were
the days. Needless to say, after flunking both my ONC and DTI ticket,
the time came were I had to get a real job. Best mate there was Andy
Dogherty, I still think back on those times as some of the best I have
had. Joined the RAF as an Aero Engineer in 1980 and started
to get a sensible head on, well almost. Had tours at Coltishall,
Bruggen, Honington, Bruggen, Coningsby and Lyneham as well as some
savory detachments, and others less savory, around the world. 22 years
later, I'm still at it and have been rewarded with a hellish tour in
Atlanta USA. Been here for nearly two years and loving every minute of
it, even getting my Private Pilots License recently. I married
Heather in 1982, she must have the patience of a saint because she's
managed to put up with me for all this time! We have two sons, Andy and
Gary. |
