Member notes for Philip PannettAfter leaving New Earswick moved on to
Nunthorpe. Left in 1976 and went off to sea as a deck cadet in the
merchant navy. Married in 1983 and settled down in Crayke N Yorks. Had
three years ashore keeping pigs and a fruit and veg round. Commisioned

1989 on Dover Ferries. Got fed up with crossing the channel 3 times a
day so joined Royal Fleet Auxilliary as a Navigating officer and served
in the first gulf war where I had a brilliant time in the pools of
various hotels as they were pleased to see us at that time. Moved on to
work for a Norwegien shipping company and then on to North Sea Ferries
in Hull in 1994. Finished as Captain of the 'MV Norland' in December
