Went to Sea in Merchant navy when I left School, and stayed there for some 15 years until gained Master certificate. Since then have worked ashore for both Esso & Shell looking after the quality of ships they use - and spent 7 years as Marine Manager/Director for a British shipping company in Cumbria.

Married Sue Pardy (ex the Grammer School!) in 1976 - and have two kids Pip and Adam - both now in their twenties, and Pip is married.
