You'll be happy to hear I managed to contact Chris Keen who was at the college upto 1982. He listed as being last seen on the Opalia and Halia. He now lives in Thailand and can be contacted at <snipped> . He also as contacts for a few other ex Greenhithe people who he knows from work.
